FULL SESSION VS. MINI SESSION

Client Guide

Which type of photosession is better for my family - a Full Session or a Mini Session? And what is the difference? I get these questions a lot! The answer is going to be different for each family, and it might change from year to year as your kids get older or their attention spans change.

Here are some quick differences between a Full Session and a Mini Session:

FULL SESSION

  • 45-60 minute session
  • Location of your choice
  • Date of your choice
  • 45+ images
MINI SESSION

  • 15-20 minute session
  • Predetermined location & date
  • Back to back sessions
  • 15 images (option to upgrade)
IT'S BEST TO BOOK A FULL SESSION IF:
  1. You want more time. More time also means a more relaxed photosession. Sometimes kids need more time to warm up to new people and places. We'll have a chance to explore the location, play some games, and coax those genuine smiles.
  2. You want to choose the location and time. I love helping families choose the best location for them. It can be an open field with green trees, woodsy with lots of shade, or a place with unique architecture. Not only that, Houston is a big city and sometimes you want a convenient location and less travel time. You can select the preferred date and we can allow for one reschedule if something comes up.
  3. You want a diverse gallery. Because we spend more time together, you'll receive a gallery with more storytelling. We'll have time to get the standard everyone looking at the camera photos as well as candid and creative images. Having the time to walk around to different spots in the location will provide you with a gallery with much more variety.
IT'S BEST TO BOOK A MINI SESSION IF:
  1. You want a short session. Mini sessions are 15-20 minutes long. Sometimes kids can really only hang in there for a short amount of time and they are done! You know them best, and you really want to capture them as they are.
  2. You don't mind being limited by a specific date, location, and time slot. Mini sessions are offered on a set date and at a set location with families booking time slots back to back, so there is no wiggle room when it comes to lateness or cooperation. Once they are booked, there are no refunds or reschedules.
  3. You just want a handful of photos. Mini sessions are great for families that just want some updated photos, maybe for their annual holiday card. You will get a few different poses with the same background, and you get to select your favorites from an online gallery.

If you decide a full session works best for you, fill out my contact form here to get your session on my calendar. I only take a limited amount of full sessions each month, so it's best to reach out early!

If you decide a mini session works best for you, those are offered at various times throughout the year and will be announced through my email list and Instagram.
